Chapter 523
Lily raised her eyebrows at the sight of Alexander calmly pulling his legs away from her.
"Another woman?" Alexander turned to Lily. "Did you mean her?"
Feeling uncomfortable under the scrutiny, Lily shot him an angry look, which he met with laughter. Their interaction felt natural, their chemistry palpable. Brittany, witnessing this, fumed. She and Alexander had known each other for over ten years, yet he had never looked at her like thatโnever smiled at her with such adoration. This woman, however, had elicited that smile. Why? Today, she finally learned the mysterious woman's identity and appearance; the woman she'd fought with was an imposter. The thought depressed her.
"Come here, you!" Alexander called warmly, gesturing to Lily.
Despite her reluctance, with guests present, she complied, walking toward him and stopping two steps away, squinting. "What do you want?"
"I'm not going to eat you. Come here." He frowned at her distance.
Lily took a step closer before Alexander grabbed her wrist, pulling her into his arms. Turning to Brittany, he announced, "Let me officially introduce you two. This is my wife, Lily Christian. She isn't 'just another woman.' She is someone very important to me. Anyone who dares to harm her will answer to me!"
The room fell silent.
Brittany's face contorted. She fought for control, but his words were like daggers to her heart. Through gritted teeth, she asked, "That's her?"
"Yes, this is her!" Alexander nodded firmly. "Brittany, I've said it countless times. For the sake of our families' friendship, I've treated you like a younger sister, but if you don't want that, I won't force it. However, I won't let anyone hurt my wife!" He knew she'd target Lily after discovering her mistake with Olivia, and he intended to prevent that.
"Why can't you love me?!" Brittany cried, nearly hysterical, clenching her fists.
"I just can't," he answered decisively. Brandon felt pity for his sister as Alexander's words hung in the air. Tears streamed down Brittany's face. Unable to contain herself, she screamed, "I hate you! I hate all of you!" Then she ran out.
