Chapter 512

"Well, I had other choices, but" Alexander trailed off.

Lily cupped Alexander's cheeks, tilting her head to look into his eyes. His face was flawless from every angle. "Are you sure no other women were head over heels for you?" She spoke impulsively.

Alexander's eyes darkened. He grasped her hands, pulling her closer. "Do you think every woman is as bold as you?"

It was true. Alexander's circumstances were attractive, but only he knew the pressures of running the family business. He'd had no time for anything else. Besides, Brittany was always there, deterring other women. While her obsession was relentless, it was preferable to dealing with numerous suitors.

Therefore, Alexander had ignored the women Brittany had driven away. They were inconsequential. However, things were different now. He'd warned Brittany to leave him alone, threatening consequences if she disobeyed.

Lily remained silent. In retrospect, she had been incredibly bold, approaching him for help. His marriage proposal and her acceptance had been the boldest moment of her life. Alexander stared at her for a moment, then touched his nose to hers before straightening. "Brittany isn't my ex-girlfriend. We're close; I consider her my sister, but she refuses to accept that."

He'd explained their relationship succinctly. If he'd wanted to make her jealous, he would have given her a better opportunity.

"Then, did you know she went looking for Olivia?" Lily hesitated, wondering how Alexander could be unaware, given Edward had witnessed the encounter. Edward's knowledge implied Alexander's.

He nodded slightly. "I know," he paused. "There's a small problem."

He glanced at Lily. "Olivia beat her up."

Lily was stunned. Olivia's call had seemed like a joke, but it was true. She was shocked; her outgoing, loyal friend, who always valued their friendship, had actually fought someone.

"Was it serious? What happened? Should we apologize or offer compensation?" Lily considered the ramifications.

Alexander shook his head, recalling Edward's account. "With Edward there, it shouldn't have been too severe. Let's see how the Oakleys respond before deciding on a course of action."

"Olivia did it because of me. I'll apologize or compensate on her behalf. I don't blame her," Lily said earnestly.

She didn't know the details, but Olivia was in trouble because of her. Regardless of the reason, Lily wouldn't let Olivia take the blame.

Alexander looked at her in surprise. "What are you talking about? If an apology or compensation is necessary, Brittany and her family should be the ones doing it."

Lily exclaimed, "Huh?"

Alexander wouldn't forgive anyone who interfered with his life or his people. Why should Lily apologize instead? He wouldn't allow it.
