Chapter 50

Charles summoned Lily to his office as soon as he saw her. He appeared to have been waiting. Walking to the side of his desk, he pointed at the window blinds. "Pull down the blinds."

Lily turned to comply. As she did, she noticed curious and gossiping eyes outside. "What's going on?" she wondered. After lowering the blinds, she moved deeper into the office. "Take a look at this," Charles said, producing an envelope and tossing it to her.

Lily opened the envelope, her heart heavy with doubt. Inside was a lawyer's letter. As she suspected, Nathaniel had sued her. She glanced at it dismissively, a sneer playing on her lips, and tossed it back in the envelope. She didn't seem concerned.

Charles observed her reaction. Her unusual calm prompted him to ask, "What are your thoughts? The other party has sent a lawyer's letter."

Lily put away the letter. "I apologize for any trouble I've caused the company. Don't worry; I'll handle this. It won't affect my work."

Charles was speechless. From an HR perspective, he wouldn't hire someone like Lily. While Jenny had been aggressive the other day, she hadn't been entirely wrong.

Lily lacked qualifications, reputation, and was clearly troubled. The company shouldn't have hired her. However, George had insisted, not only hiring her but also demanding she be supported. As an employee, Charles couldn't object.

"For now, it's just a lawyer's letter. We don't know if he'll sue the company. Rebirth isn't afraid; we have a strong legal team. Still, it's best to resolve this quickly to avoid reputational damage. Do you understand?"

"Yes, I understand. I know I've caused trouble and sincerely apologize," Lily replied, nodding.

Charles sighed, looking at her. "You can go now and report to Ms. Gray. She needs to speak with you."

"Okay."

As Lily stood to leave, Charles called her back. "Ms. Gray has a strong personality, but she's competent and talented. Don't take offense if she says something sharp." "Noted," Lily replied. She felt eyes on her as she opened the door. Quickly, she headed to the project department, clutching the envelope.

Meanwhile, at MN Inc.'s CEO office, Melanie threw a pen down angrily. "No! I refuse to write anymore! Are you crazy?! I graduated years agoโ€”why am I copying homework? And it's Lily's homework!"

Her beautiful eyes glared at the notebook, as if burning holes in it. Compared to the towering stacks of books on her desk and floor, this single book seemed insignificant. The sheer volume felt like endless suffering with no end in sight.

Nathaniel, in contrast, remained calm. He picked up another pen. "I know you're tired, and it's been difficult, but we need to work hard for our future!" he said, looking at Melanie.
