Chapter 474

"If you're not satisfied, I'll give you the building in the eastern suburbs!" Brandon said through gritted teeth. Lily considered this. While she didn't know the building's significance, nor did she need it, she saw it as a gamble and replied, "Sure!"

Brandon sighed in relief. He shifted in his seat and asked cautiously, "Then may I have dinner here?"

"Of course! We welcome our guests, and it's only right to invite you to stay," Lily assured him, smiling kindly.

This left Brandon speechless. He recalled a recent threat from a couple; they would have ejected him had he not rephrased himself. She's not an angel! She's a devil, a bewitching one! he thought.

Assured of his welcome, Brandon reverted to his usual lively self, engaging in conversation during dinner. "We've been talking for so long, but I'm not sure how to address you, beautiful." Lily glanced at Alexander and smiled. "You can call me Mrs. Russell."

Since Alexander and Lily were marrying soon, this seemed appropriate. However, it also indirectly avoided his question, withholding her name. This woman is cunning! he thought.

He persisted, "No, I mean, I know you're Mrs. Russell, but what's your name? I'm Brandon Oakley, and it's a pleasure to meet you. What's your name, Mrs. Russell?" Anticipation was evident on his face. Lily looked at him, smiling gently. "Mr. Oakley, don't you think it's inappropriate to ask for my name in front of my husband?"

Smiling, she ended the conversation abruptly.

Brandon was stunned. What kind of conservative mindset is that? I was just asking her name!

He almost continued, but seeing Alexander from the corner of his eye, he swallowed his words and changed the subject. "Then, how did you two meet?" He was genuinely curious how Lily had connected with Alexander and managed to win him despite his sister's efforts.

Things that are meant to be, will be, Brandon mused. Brittany had tried for years. She sent Alexander desserts and gifts, picked him up from the airport, visited his companyโ€”but to no avail.

"About that" Lily looked at Alexander, thinking, Which occasion should I consider our first meeting? The competition mishap or when I asked for his help years later? "We're old friends," Alexander answered, then looked at Brandon with feigned annoyance. "Are you finished? Leave if you are."

Speechless, Brandon shook his head. "No! I'm still eating!"

He quickly stuffed his mouth full to emphasize his point. He worried Brittany would beat him up for failing to learn Lily's name or the story of their meeting. I must try again, he thought.

Before he could speak, Edward entered hurriedly, his expression grave. "Mr. Russell"
