Despite Alexander's indifference, Brandon refused to give up. Alexander's house was warm and comfortable, allowing Brandon to recover from his ordeal and rise from the floor to sit on the sofa.

Alexander glared, but Brandon remained unmoved, firmly planted on the cushions. "Don't give me that look. You kicked me out of your car and electrocuted me, and I'm not complaining! All I wanted was a glimpse of your fiancée. Why the secrecy? Is she…ugly?" Brandon trailed off, noticing Alexander's intensifying glare.

"Okay, okay. I'm just trying to help. The secret's out; there's no point hiding it anymore. And you weren't even trying to hide it, were you? Since you're getting married, why not introduce her to me first? It's better than my sister finding out, right?" Brandon reasoned patiently.

"You know what my sister is like. She's been around for years, keeping other women away. If she finds out about the wedding, she'll go crazy!" Brandon knew Brittany would be furious; this wasn't an arranged marriage—it was love. Brittany might even resort to violence. The more he thought about it, the more apprehensive he became. He needed to see this woman Alexander was so smitten with.

He hoped to either break them up or, failing that, warn the couple about Brittany.

Alexander frowned. "I've only ever considered Brittany my sister, and everyone knows it. I've never given her false hope."

Brandon nodded vigorously. "Of course! My parents know, and I'm sure Brittany does too, but she's stubborn. She would have given up years ago if she wasn't. I'm just worried she'll lose it…"

He paused, surveying the room, and mumbled, "Aren't you worried about your fiancée's safety? You're trying so hard to protect her."

Alexander's face darkened, recalling the Westwood incident. Even though Lily had been unharmed, the memory still haunted him. The near-kidnapping terrified him; he couldn't bear the thought of it happening again.

He looked at Brandon intently. "You need to ensure Brittany doesn't do anything to hurt my fiancée. Even if she were my biological sister, I wouldn't let her get away with it!"

This was a warning to both Brandon and Brittany—a clear message to the Oakleys that Brittany would face consequences. Brandon had never seen such a frigid expression on Alexander's face before. He knew Alexander could be cold, but he was also capable of warmth, as evidenced by his unconcern about Brandon's muddy state on his sofa.

But this time, Alexander was serious. Brandon sensed a murderous intent, a chilling realization that Alexander was genuinely in love with Lily. This wasn't a cover-up; it was love.
