Chapter 432
"I didn't even say anything!" Alexander puffed out his cheek arrogantly.
"Even if the birthday gift is here, I still haven't figured out how to send it to him," Lily sighed, rubbing her temples. The thought itself bothered her. "Aren't you going to go back?" Alexander asked. Her words didn't suggest she planned to deliver the gift personally.
Lily shook her head and sighed again. "I hadn't considered that."
"Why not?" After a pause, he asked, "Is there anyone back there that makes you not want to go back? Or is it something else? What about your parents?"
Alexander had never heard Lily mention her parents before. When he'd previously investigated her background, he'd found no information about them. It seemed she had concealed their existence. "They're no longer around," she said calmly. "They passed away together in a plane crash." Alexander was speechless. Her calmness unnerved him. How could she speak of such a tragedy so casually?
He pulled her into an embrace. "That's all in the past. You have me now!"
She snuggled closer. "You're right. I'll have you in the future."
Occasionally, Lily wondered why she'd fallen for him so quickly and trusted him so completelyโsomething she'd never done before. Was it because he provided a sense of security she'd never known? She hadn't felt this peace of mind in years, not even when living with the Lodge family.
"If you don't want to go, I'll get someone to send it. If you want to go but are still concerned, I can accompany you," Alexander said softly. Lily was surprised, her head snapping up.
Seeing her shock, he laughed and stroked her hair. His gaze was extraordinarily gentle, soothing her restless heart.
He then calmly explained, "The Russell family and the Lodge family are friends. I naturally had to prepare a gift for Wilfred's birthday. However, I didn't expect that"
"Well, whatever the case, if you don't feel like going, I'll have someone send our gifts together. That way, we'll let people know about our relationship. But I'll accompany you if you want to go!" Tightening his grip on her hand, he said, "I'll always be with you, no matter what you're going through." Hearing this, Lily felt no fear. She leaned over and kissed his cheek. "I'm so lucky to have you."
"That can't be it!" Alexander smiled, kissing her.
After a day of anxiety, Nathaniel finally felt relieved. Lily hadn't responded all day, but public opinion online was slowly improving, and even product returns were decreasing. He'd repackaged the old product, rebranding it with a "timeless piece" theme. He'd already begun promoting it, and anticipating a successful launch next week, he foresaw profitability.
It seemed he'd had no choice but to rely on himself to turn things around! He'd barely slept in days.
