Chapter 395
Lily and Alexander's trip to Westwood concluded, and they returned home on the same flight. Life resumed its normal pace, though their workload remained intense. Their return was celebrated; Lily's victory, and Rebirth's most significant award since its inception, brought them considerable honor. The competition established Rebirth and Lily as a leading force in the international perfume industry.
The staff prepared a grand welcome. Upon her return, Lily was greeted with a celebratory display of ribbons and balloons. Jenny enthusiastically led the applause, shouting, "We congratulate our star on her honorable return!" The entire staff joined in, their appreciation overcoming any previous prejudices. Many had doubted Lily, even before the Westwood competition, harboring pessimism about her chances of success. Her victory, unprecedented in company history, proved them wrong, particularly given that the final judge was the renowned Mr. Parker.
"Thank you, everyone!" Lily said, politely acknowledging the enthusiastic reception. While unaccustomed to such attention, she appreciated their support.
George approached, saying, "Lily, you've brought great glory to the company. Commendations and rewards will follow. Please join me in my office; I need to discuss something with you."
Mr. Will's immediate suggestion of another assignment prompted a protest. "Mr. Will, Lily just returned from a business trip; shouldn't she rest?" someone asked. A chorus of agreement followed, with suggestions of a celebratory dinner.
Jenny, though smiling, playfully countered the enthusiasm, "Wait a minute! Lily won the award, so she deserves the celebration. Why are you all so happy?"
Undeterred, a colleague replied, "Lily's success benefits the whole company. She's part of our team, and we're all thrilled for her. Let's celebrate!"
The celebratory dinner was agreed upon, with George offering to treat. He added, however, "Finish your work first! Our next projects will be challenging; we need to be prepared." The staff responded with a unified "Okay!" before dispersing.
George then gestured to Lily, "Come with me." Though uncertain of his purpose, she accepted the invitation. He patted her shoulder, saying, "Come to my office. I need to tell you something."
