Chapter 370
"Aren't we going back?" Lily was curious about his destination. They were alone; everyone else had left.
"I promised you a trip to celebrate, but the competition was delayed. Let me make it up to you now!" Alexander said enthusiastically. The source of his convertible sports car remained a mystery. He drove her on the highway, creating a scene reminiscent of a romantic movie.
"Wait, I have an appointment with Olivia and Jenny!" she sighed regretfully, remembering her prior commitments. She'd had to cancel earlier plans due to last-minute errands.
"Am I not better than them?" he asked, turning to her with dissatisfaction. His jealousy was immediate and intenseโunbelievable!
"Okay, you're the best! Now concentrate on driving!" she replied, gently turning his face back toward the road. Safety was paramount. He beamed at her praise, a wide smile spreading across his lips. To comfort her, he said, "Come with me this time, and you can see them next."
"I can't take that many days off. Why would you think I'm that free?" she murmured. Alexander assumed she had the same flexible schedule as he did, forgetting she was a junior employee, not the boss.
"Did you forget about me?" he asked, a smug smile playing on his lips.
Lily remained silent. He suddenly remembered he'd been contacting George directly for the past two days, discussing matters directly related to her. Their relationship was clearly evident to anyone but a fool.
"Did you make our relationship public?" she asked nervously.
"No," he replied smoothly, taking her hand. "George may have guessed, but I didn't tell him. He knows you're on my side, and there's nothing wrong with that. Just let him know if you need anything."
Lily pursed her lips.
"I know you want to be independent, but you're not not relying on me! Take this competition, for example. Even if the company recommended you because of me, you wouldn't have won without your own skills. I didn't rig the game; you did it yourself!"
He kissed her hand.
Amused by his seriousness, Lily said, "I didn't blame you!"
"It's best if you don't. We can't hide forever, soโฆ" He slowed the car, turning to look at her affectionately. "When do you want to announce us?"
Lily was silent again. His half-serious, half-joking expression sent her heart racing. Given his status, he didn't need her permission to go public, but he always respected her feelings. He truly cherished her.
A smile touched her lips. She intertwined their hands. "Soon!"
Soon. Soon, when she felt stronger and confident enough to stand beside him, she would declare to the world that he was hersโand she, uniquely, was his.
