Chapter 335
Giselle often worried unnecessarily, but this time, her concerns were justified. Lily's refusal to meet Lisa immediately wasn't solely about avoiding gossip; a meeting at such a sensitive time could lead to unwarranted speculation. Even if Lily disregarded that, it would still damage Lisa and her father's reputations.
Lily looked at the man and said, "How about this? I'll call Lisa and talk to her on the phone."
The man remained silent, so Lily called Lisa. However, the call failed.
"Ms. Parker is doing this out of necessity, Ms. Christian. We hope you understand," the man explained.
Initially, Lily hesitated, worried something had happened to Lisa since the call failed and the man possessed Lisa's ring. After a moment's hesitation, she agreed.
"Fine. I'll come with you."
"Wait!"
Giselle, seeing she couldn't stop Lily, rushed over. "I'll go too."
"Ms. Parker only invited Ms. Christian." The man clearly didn't want Giselle along.
"I'll just take a quick look and call you if anything comes up. Be right back." Lily gestured that she would call Giselle.
However, Giselle insisted, "No. I won't let you out of my sight. I'll come with you if you're worried about Ms. Parker."
"Giselle" Lily began, but the man interrupted. "Ms. Christian, time is of the essence. Your assistant can come if she insists."
Since Giselle was allowed to accompany them, Lily didn't argue further as they got into the car. The spacious car contained only the driver, Lily, Giselle, and the man. He remained silent, creating a slightly somber atmosphere, punctuated only by a faint scent of air freshener.
Lily tried calling Lisa again, but her phone was off.
"What exactly happened to Lisa?" Lily's worry intensified.
"Ms. Parker is having some problems and hopes you can help," the man said.
"What kind of problems? Does Mr. Parker know?" Giselle asked urgently. It would be better if Lisa sought help from her powerful father if the problem was serious. Lily knew no one there and had no connections. How could she possibly help?
"Ms. Parker said you're the only one who can help," the man replied, his answers remaining vague. Lily pressed further, "Where is Lisa now?"
The man looked at Lily, his eyes obscured by sunglasses. "Ms. Christian, why so many questions? You'll find out when we get there."
"You" Giselle started to speak, then paused abruptly, slapping her forehead and shaking her head. "You guys"
