Chapter 309

"Sorry, who are you?" Lisa asked, not recognizing the woman.

Melanie acted like an old friend, patting Lisa's shoulder and smiling. "Hey, don't you remember me? I'm Mel! Melanie Thayer!"

Lisa remained quiet, seemingly trying to recall. Lily was speechless.

Melanie's such a kiss-ass, Lily thought. When was she ever close to Lisa in university? Most of Melanie's friends back then were guys. She only befriended girls if she could gain something from them; otherwise, she wouldn't bother with small talk.

At the time, Lily, socially inexperienced, hadn't seen through Melanie's calculated attempts to befriend and gain favor. Now, knowing Lisa was Wesley Parker's daughter, Melanie was clearly trying to cultivate a relationship.

Seeing no response from Lisa, Melanie felt embarrassed but didn't back down. She quickly turned to Lily. "Did you forget? We were in the same dorm. We often had lunch together at the restaurant near the university entranceโ€”you know, the one with the pickled fish?"

At the mention of food, Lisa's eyes lit up. She nodded repeatedly. "Ah, yes! The pickled fish near the gate was delicious. I haven't had it since I came home. Now that you mention it, I'm drooling! Is that restaurant still there?"

Successfully capturing Lisa's attention, Melanie sat beside her. "Yes, the owner retired and gave the business to his son, but the taste is still the same. Let me take you there sometime!"

"Really?" Lisa exclaimed, excited. "I feel like going back there right now!"

"Haha, let's go together then! You haven't been here in a while. Sapphine has changed a lot; let me show you around. There are so many delicious foods besides pickled fish. We can take our time trying them all." Melanie looked at Lily proudly.

Lisa was easily manipulated; it was simple for Melanie to befriend her by finding common ground. Melanie saw Lisa as another potential stepping stone.

Lisa nodded repeatedly and turned to Lily. "Lily, you must take me to some good food!"

Melanie fell silent.

Lily looked at Melanie and said, "Okay!"

Lisa continued, "Lily, the perfumery competition is tomorrow. Are you leaving afterward? Stay a few more days! I can show you some interesting places. By the way, you haven't been to my house yet. You should come visit!"

Lily smiled. "Don't worry, I won't be leaving so soon. I'll stay for a few more days, and we can meet again."

"That's great! Now that we're back in touch, I can reach out anytime! I miss you so much!" Lisa took out her phone. "By the way, add me on WhatsApp!"
