Chapter 307
Melanie was the most disappointed by this turn of events. She had been waiting to see Lily get into trouble, but Lisaโs unexpected arrival disrupted everything. โHow annoying!โ Melanie gritted her teeth, resenting Lisaโs joyful smile. To Melanie, Lisa had ruined her plans and the promising outcome sheโd anticipated.
โWait! Why do I feel like Iโve seen her before? She looks familiar. Earlier, she said she met Lily in Hyderland, but Iโve known Lily since university. Iโve met most of her friends, and there werenโt many. Why does Lisa seem so familiar?โ Melanie continued staring at Lisaโs face, and a memory fragment flickered in her mind. โThatโs her?โ
On the other side of the hall, after the crowd dispersed, Lisa was still talking to Lily.
โLilsy, I sent you my new number after returning to Westwood. Why didnโt you contact me? I thought you didnโt want to be friends anymore.โ
โYou sent it? I didnโt receive it.โ Lily was surprised. She remembered Lisa, an old friend. Lisa had been an exchange student at their university, but no one knew her true identityโthe daughter of internationally renowned perfumer Wesley Parker. Everyone had simply assumed she was another exchange student. Lisa hadnโt been as cheerful then; her personality had been similar to Lilyโs, as she also had few friends.
Lily couldnโt recall how theyโd become friends, but she remembered making a scented sachet for Lisa before Lisa returned to Westwood. Their classmates often experimented with fragrances, creating perfumes and essential oils. For Lisa, receiving a sachet filled with various dried flowers and different fragrances had been unusual. Lily had even customized it based on Lisaโs preferences. She hadnโt expected Lisa to cherish it so much, keeping it constantly at her side.
โHuh? You didnโt receive it? I sent it three times because I was worried that would happen.โ
Lisa initially pouted in disappointment, but quickly returned to her cheerful demeanor. โItโs okay, though. Look! Even if you didnโt receive it, weโre back in touch! It has to be fate, right?โ
โYouโre right. Thatโs exactly it.โ Lily laughed. Reuniting with an old friend in a foreign country was wonderful.
โOh, right, are you here for the perfumery competition too?โ Lisa asked, taking a bite of her cake. Lily raised her eyebrows and chuckled.
โDidnโt you say I was here to visit you?โ
Lisa chuckled. Waving her hand, she explained, โI said that deliberately. I needed to ease the tension. Otherwise, there would have been a fight between you and my dad, right?โ
Lily was speechless. โShe knows everything, but sheโs pretending not to, to ease the tension. What a brilliant girl!โ
Although years had passed since their last meeting, they instantly reconnected. Laughing, Lily nodded.
โIf I were to fight with your dad, what would you do?โ
โThat wonโt happen,โ Lisa said indifferently, taking another bite of cake and shaking her head. โThere are a lot of guards here, and my dad has many bodyguards. Youโd be on the ground before you could even touch him.โ
Lily was at a loss for words.
