Chapter 304
"Giselle, you must understand that respect is mutual. There's no reason to be polite if the host doesn't treat us as valued guests," Lily said. The environment felt uncomfortable; she would have left long ago if not for her role as Rebirth's representative.
"Still" Giselle began, but was interrupted. "I'm sorry to interrupt," a voice said, "but did you two mention the host not respecting your guests?"
They turned to see an older man with silver hair, who, despite his age, looked well-maintained and sophisticated. Giselle recognized him instantly: Wesley Parker. She gasped. "M-My apologies, Mr. Parker. That wasn't what we meant"
"Are you saying I misheard you?" Wesley touched his earlobe. "I believe my hearing is perfectly fine."
"Mr. Parker, you're mistaken," Giselle insisted, but Lily stopped her.
"Your hearing is fine, and you heard correctly. That's precisely what I meant. The host is disrespectful and biased toward certain guests. That's my opinion." Giselle's eyes widened. She hadn't expected Lily's boldness. Does she even know who Mr. Parker is?! she thought.
Giselle attempted to interjectโ"Mr.โฆ"โbut Wesley cut her off. His eyes narrowed as he addressed Lily. "Really? Enlighten me. I'd like to know what led you to that conclusion."
"Lily! Lily," Giselle whispered, a desperate attempt to stop her. It was probably futile, but worth a try.
Lily faced the silver-haired man, noting his seemingly friendly demeanor that subtly concealed a hint of superiority. His questions felt less like an inquiry and more like an interrogation; clearly, he disapproved of her assessment.
"The event organizer, responsible for this so-called welcome dinner, invited everyone. However, they haven't provided anyone to greet us. I've been here nearly an hour and haven't met a single member of the organizing committee. Their voices attracted a crowd," Lily explained. "It's fair that invitations were sent to all participants. However, I understand the person in charge went to welcome a more important guest, leaving the rest of us neglected. How is that fair?"
Lily felt the organizer shouldn't have ignored the other guests, even if they were entertaining more important individuals. They simply didn't care about the rest. Her comments, in fact, reflected the unspoken sentiments of several hesitant guests, none of whom dared to confront the organizer.
Among the onlookers were Frank and Melanie, who had arrived after hearing the commotion. They observed from the edge of the crowd.
Frank sneered. "She's such an idiot! Things are about to get interesting."
Melanie looked confused. "What do you mean?"
