"Did you go to Nathaniel and force him to break up with me?" Melanie asked bluntly.
Lily, confused, remained silent.
"Stop pretending! Admit what you've done and stop beating around the bush! I never expected such trickery from you," Melanie sneered, keeping her distance. She remembered Lily's kickboxing skills and remained cautious.
"Mel, are you out of your mind?" Lily retorted. "If you're unwell, see a doctor. Don't bring your nonsense here. I'm not your therapist. Settle things with Nathaniel yourself. Get out of my face! You disgust me!" She waved her hand dismissively.
Humiliated, Melanie's face flushed. "Lily, stop deceiving people! Do you think you can get back together with him? It's impossible!"
Melanie slowly approached Lily. "Even if you blinded him temporarily, his heart belongs to me. While you were in the lab, he told me seeing you was repulsive. He had no interest in you; I'm the only one in his heart. What do you know besides data and test tubes? You're not a woman at all."
As Melanie neared, Lily prepared for a confrontation. She shifted her weight, anticipating a move, causing Melanie to stumble uncontrollably.
"Ah!" Melanie clutched her stomach. "Ah, my baby"
Lily thought, 'What the hell! This woman's a scammer!' She hadn't anticipated this frame-up. Melanie could have broken her fall, but instead, she allowed herself to fall onto a rockโa deliberate action.
"Quite close, but based on your angle and strength, you probably just fell on your waist, not directly on your stomach!" Lily said mockingly.
Melanie clutched her lower abdomen, wailing, "You vicious woman! You killed my child! I won't let you go!"
Lily noticed blood flowing down Melanie's legs. 'Whoa, so realistic! Did she bring props?' But something felt genuine. Was she pregnant? Having a miscarriage?
How could she fight Lily while pregnant? How ruthless!
"Ah, it hurts! I'm in so much pain!" Melanie cried, beads of sweat appearing on her forehead. The commotion attracted onlookers. "Melanie, you're ruthless!" Lily gritted her teeth, calling an ambulance. A life was at stake. Even if Melanie was at fault, Lily wouldn't let her die. The earlier issue was unresolved; Melanie couldn't die yet.
"Lily? Lily!" Olivia, surprised by Lily's presence, ran downstairs. "Why are you here? Why didn't you call? I"
A moan interrupted her. She turned, saw Melanie, and gasped, "Ms. Thayer, what happened?"
