Chapter 243

Before Frank could speak, Melanie quickly continued, "Even though I've decided against keeping the baby, it doesn't mean we can proceed. I have an inflammation, and it might affect you. Can we continue this later, after I've recovered?"

Frank stared at her silently.

"Don't worry," Melanie said, trying to calm him. "I'll keep my end of the bargain. My informant tells me Lily is taking a break and will likely travel abroad. It might be difficult in Sapphine, but it will be easier when she's out of the country." She leaned in, gently poking his chest.

"Really?" Frank questioned doubtfully, clearly distrustful.

"Of course! I heard her new product was a success, so she's probably traveling for inspiration for her next one," Melanie said, annoyance creeping into her voice. She was dealing with health issues and Frank's unpredictable behavior, while Lily seemed to be thriving. Since leaving MN Inc., Lily had become even more successful, releasing new perfumes at an astonishing rate. Melanie mused darkly, "If I had the chance, I'd put acid in one of her perfume mixtures." However, she added pragmatically, "It's good news if I can pass Frank along to Lily; he's such a burden. And judging by his… enthusiasm in bed, I'd love to see him torture Lily."

"Oh? She succeeded?" Frank was pleasantly surprised. While he'd only recently entered the industry, his training under a renowned perfumer and access to resources had led to early success. Lily's achievement, however, was especially impressive given her background.

"My informant said she was successful, but the details are confidential, so he couldn't get a sample. Who knows if she actually succeeded? But it'll never be better than yours. Lily's talented, but she's no genius! Hmph!" Melanie scoffed.

"Well, at least she's better than you!" Frank retorted, glancing at her. While outwardly praising Lily, he privately doubted she could surpass him. He considered her a newcomer, a woman from a small town with limited experience. Even with talent, creating something truly sensational would be difficult; at best, something merely acceptable. Frankly, her perfumery skills were irrelevant to him; he was only interested in her physical attributes. He eagerly anticipated sleeping with her.

"Shut up!" Melanie playfully shoved him, irritated by his blatant obsession. His lust was almost palpable. "Frank, it doesn't have to be Lily. Sapphine is full of beautiful women, and I can find someone else for you in the meantime. I still need time to deal with Lily," she added thoughtfully. She couldn't let him become too fixated on Lily, lest he prioritize her over Melanie. But Frank was uninterested.

"There's no need. Do I look so easily satisfied to you?" he asked coldly.

Surprised and puzzled by his anger, Melanie replied, "No, that's not what I meant. I was just trying to help since I can't… I thought I could find someone else for you. Don't worry, I'd only find someone… clean and respectable. They'd be safe and…"

Before she could finish, Frank interrupted loudly, "I said I don't need that, do you hear me?!"
