"I know I'm not famous," Lily said. "So, besides winning this annual competition, I'm making other preparations." She already had a plan.

Alexander raised an eyebrow. "What preparations?"

"I've conceived two new products," she replied. "Even if I fail, I'll learn."

"It'll be tough," Alexander conceded.

"I'm happy to do it," Lily said, genuinely content to pursue her passion.

Her delighted smile brightened Alexander's mood. He swept her into his arms and carried her upstairs.

"What?" Lily asked, questioning.

"I agree," Alexander said, smiling. "I should do something that makes me happy!"

Lily blushed, understanding. The night was long and…pleasant.

Melanie, speaking softly to avoid detection, said, "You're late." Familiar with the lab's layout and security cameras, she'd surveyed the area during the day to anticipate and avoid problems. This was ostensibly to identify potential issues.

She hadn't anticipated Frank's lateness. He had no concept of time, despite demanding punctuality from her. She had little choice; she needed his help.
