Mike gritted his teeth. "But it'll be too late when the experiment begins." The thought of his son on a cold operating table was unbearable. He couldn't let anything happen to Nick. Nick had been in the embassy's hands for so long, and now this. He likely didn't even know the dangers he faced.

"Can you rescue your son by forcing your way into the embassy now?" Alexander asked.

Mike's eyes were bloodshot. "I don't care. I have to try, even if they kill me!"

"Okay, go ahead!" Alexander slammed the table. "Austin, let him go!"

"Take it easy, Alex," Austin said, shocked and overwhelmed at having to restrain Mike and calm Alexander simultaneously.

"If he wants to go, let him!" Alexander looked at Mike. "I've said my piece. I'm not stopping him if he insists. We saw the embassy's tight security, not to mention Fred and Queen Yasmin's hidden weapons. Let's see if he can make it through their gate." He pointed harshly toward the door.

Mike fell silent, his struggle ceasing. Seeing this, Austin released him, his arms aching. Unsupported, Mike slumped onto a nearby stool, looking lost. "So I can only stand by and do nothing?"

Alexander understood his despair. He frowned. "I know it's hard, but you have to wait. I've almost completed my arrangements, and Secretary Rollins should have things sorted as well. The next one to two days will be crucial."

"One to two days?" Mike looked up doubtfully. "This has gone on for so long. What can we achieve in one or two days?" He felt his hope dwindling. He'd comforted himself by thinking he'd worked hard to rescue his sonโ€”playing along with Rhea, mobilizing his menโ€”but now it felt futile. He balled his fists. "I'll die to be with my son!"

Alexander said, "You won't die, and you can't. You all must treasure your lives."
