"It sure looks like it," Ross nodded. "My men at the embassy reported unusual activity over the past two days. That's all they could tell me, however." He spread his arms, a gesture of limited knowledge.

Alexander and Cameron remained silent, exchanging a look.

"Secretary Rollins, your assessment?" Mike asked.

"I'd prefer to hear Alex's thoughts first," Cameron replied flatly.

Alexander cleared his throat. "It's clear they're undertaking something significant tomorrow. The embassy has been postponing meetings, and Rhea insisted you only visit at night. That suggests she'll be occupied during the day," he paused. "Besides, why did she only call you now? What was she doing all day? Why the delay?"

Mike frowned. "I wondered the same. She may have been unavailable, unwilling, or unable to answer earlier."

Ross sighed, turning to Cameron. "I'm curious about what they're doing and where, since even the regular staff are unaware."

"Secretary Rollins, I must emphasize that the Yudonian government is not complicit in Fred's actions," Ross stated, anxious to avoid an international incident.

Cameron shook his head. "I understand your predicament, Your Highness, but Fred, a Yudonian duke, has abused his ambassadorial status to commit crimes in Hyderland. We've avoided arresting him, partly due to our nations' ties."

"So you can't claim your government bears no responsibility," Cameron stated.

Ross shook his head. "I'm not claiming that. I'm saying this shouldn't affect our relationship."

"Your Highness, the situation depends on your government's stance. The onus is on you," Cameron said, both courteous and firm. Hyderland had already tolerated Fred's actions; if his crimes were exposed, Yudonia would face global condemnation.

Ross's smile vanished. He cleared his throat, nodding solemnly. "I understand, and I appreciate your efforts. But the priority is stopping Fred and rescuing my mother."

Alexander addressed Mike. "Go to the embassy tomorrow, during the day. We'll find a way inside."

"But she asked me to go at nightโ€”"

"Make an excuse," Alexander said. "I've made arrangements. If they refuse entry, we'll force our way in." They'd pursued legal avenues, but had no other option.
