As Fabian's sister was gentle and virtuous, Cameron wondered how Fabian had turned out this way. He sighed and said, "I know you're having a hard time, but you wouldn't be here if you hadn't been so greedy and tried to steal the project."
"I got it legally!" Fabian shouted. "You gave it to me! I thought you were helping me, but you set me up! You asshole!" He tried to choke Cameron, frustrated by the bars separating them. The violence revealed the depth of his hatred.
"I didn't set you up," Cameron said emphatically. "Rhea did this. She used drugs to influence me into giving you the project. Why else would you have gotten it? La Beautรฉ Group already won the bid; they were far better candidates. Why would I redo the bidding?" His questions hung in the air, unanswered. "Did you genuinely get it lawfully? You should know the answer."
Cameron continued, "Did you care about the law when you tried to manipulate me? Now you claim innocence. That's convenient."
Fabian was speechless. He knew he was wrong but couldn't accept his downfall. Just days ago, everyone had courted him. He'd envisioned a bright future. Now, this. Life in the detention center was a nightmare; sleep was elusive.
Fabian's anger gradually subsided, replaced by despair. He clutched his hair and rammed his head against the bars. "I'm sorry, Ron! Please save me! I can't stay here! For my sister's sake, please get me out!" He continued banging his head and pulling his hair, sobbing uncontrollably.
Cameron felt pity. "Calm down, Fabian! The case is under investigation. I know you were unaware, but Rhea played a major role."
"Rheaโฆ" Fabian's eyes widened. "I have no idea what she did. She's been studying abroad and only recently returned. She's not close to me or Maria. She must've been led astray."
"She tried to poison Anastasia when she was fourteen!" Cameron interrupted. He knew Fabian hadn't known then, but Rhea's actions stemmed from her true nature. What person would poison their cousin? Rhea's no ordinary girl.
"But I'm innocent!" Fabian murmured.
"Tell me," Cameron pressed, "where does Rhea usually hang out? Where would she feel safe?"
