Chapter 220
Alexander still looked grim, obviously heartbroken.
Lily continued to appease him. "Of course, my success is all thanks to you. Your contribution is the greatest. You're the unsung hero behind all of us! It's my greatest honor to have your support and help. I'm so proud of you!"
Alexander was quiet, and Olivia said nothing. Edward coughed.
Olivia wanted to applaud Lily's incredible flattery skills, if they weren't in the same car as Alexander. Honestly, it was the first time she'd seen Lily like this. It wasn't like this with Nathaniel. They communicated little; even when they did, it revolved around work. Occasionally, Nathaniel would say something nice. However, their interactions had never been so natural and pleasant.
Olivia peeked and saw that Alexander's grim face had completely changed. She suspected he even blushed slightly.
"Huh, I never expected him to be shy," he murmured. "Where did you learn to flatter so well?" He raised his hand and pinched her face, his voice softer. "Even if the new product passes the test, it'll take time before it's officially launched. Since you want to rest and celebrate, why not travel somewhere? You'll get to unwind."
"Travel? Where?" Lily hadn't considered this. She used to develop new products continuously. When she succeeded, she'd rest for two days, then continue with the next idea, sampling raw materials, testing the formulaIt was routine. Her goal was simple: develop more products while she was young and full of inspiration. There would be failures, but also successes. MN Inc. could grow, and Nathaniel could relax. When they married, she wouldn't have to work so hard. She could do as she pleased, at her own pace, and live a stable and simple life. At the time, she thought she and Nathaniel were on the same page.
"It's undecided for now. Tell me where you want to go, and I'll make arrangements for you both," he said naturally. Olivia, aside, was a little excited. "You both?!" "You don't want to go?" Alexander nodded. "I'll respect your choice. If you don't want to" "Yes, yes! Of course, I want to!" Olivia repeatedly nodded, fearing her invitation would be revoked.
Olivia was delighted! She'd never received this kind of treatment after so many years at MN Inc.! She hadn't expected a company-funded trip, even if it was just tagging along. Initially, seeing Alexander's unfriendly attitude, she'd thought he disliked her. She'd changed her mind. The car slowly stopped. Alexander glanced at her and said, "This is you." "Ah yes, this is me! I'll head home first!" Olivia looked out. Her attitude was more natural than when she first got in the car. "Thank you, Mr. Russel. Have a good night!" Lily said, "It's too dark outside. Let me walk you home."
