"It's okay. Go handle your business," Anastasia said. Austin nodded, waving goodbye before remembering something. "Oh, did you hear anything about Lily?"

Austin shook his head, surprised. Seeing her disappointment, he added, "Lily's smart and capable; I'm sure she'll be fine. I'll let you know if I hear anything, okay?"

Anastasia smiled. "I believe she will be, too. Please take care."

Austin smiled, turned, and hurried from the ward. Alexander had called, but without details, only instructing Austin to come to his house.

Alex seldom contacts me, mostly keeping in touch with Uncle Dom. The last time he called was about Anastasia's infection. Could this be about viruses again?

Dismissing his worry, Austin rushed to Alexander's house. He was surprised to find two strangers there, besides Alexander. Glancing at them quickly, he hurried to Alexander. "Did you discover a new virus?"

Alexander shook his head, gesturing toward the nearby sofa. "Sit down first."

Austin sat, noting four people now occupied the living room. "What's this all about?" he asked eagerly.

After a moment, Alexander dismissed the servants and closed the door. Coffee and cups sat on the table; the house was silent.

"It's not about a new virus, but about the various ones that might exist," Alexander explained.

Austin was perplexed. "What do you mean?" He noticed the strangers weren't reacting, wondering if they already knew.

Alexander tapped the coffee table. "Austin, we've known each other for a while, but haven't been close. However, I know what motivates you. We have a serious matter requiring your helpโ€”"

"Just get to the point," Austin interrupted.

Alexander, though preferring directness, wanted clarity. He said gravely, "Since you escaped the research base, you know the situation inside very well."

Austin was stunned, instantly remembering the placeโ€”a devil's lair.
