Spoiled by Mr. Russell, Chapter 2076
Mike rolled his eyes. "Even so, they're not serving any tea, are they?" Thirsty, he grumbled, spreading his arms wide as he surveyed the empty coffee table.
After leaving the X Department building, he rushed to meet Alexander. Preoccupied with questions for Alexander, Mike forgot to drink water during their car ride.
Spotting a small water dispenser in the corner, he grabbed a disposable cup, filled it, and offered some to Alexander. Alexander remained seated, arms crossed, shaking his head slightly.
"These people are so rude! So what if it's the embassy? It's still in our country! What a bunch of arrogantโฆpeople!" Mike complained, drinking his water.
Footsteps sounded outside. Alexander looked up to see two men enter the doorway, one after the other. The first, with a cold, intense expression, gave them a hard look before stepping aside. The second man, using a cane for support, entered slowly. He didn't appear elderly, suggesting a leg or foot injury. Unlike his companion, he smiled, a friendlier demeanor. "Sorry, I got caught up," he said in a language unfamiliar to Mike.
Confused, Mike looked to Alexander, who simply sat with a polite smile, saying nothing.
The man, noticing their reactions, apologized in Yudonian. "Sorry, I forgot you don't understand. What can I do for you?" Mike wanted to shout, "Stop pretending! Just give my son back!", but he restrained himself, aware of their location.
He thought, Will he admit it without proof? Even as police, we must follow procedure, or risk damaging relations between our countries. Mike took a deep breath, suppressing his anger.
Alexander said casually, "We Hylanders don't beat around the bush. You must be Mr. Frederick Johannes, yes?"
Fred raised an eyebrow, unsurprised. He nodded, settling into a seat beside Alexander. "That's right, but call me Fred."
"Then you'll recognize these emails." Alexander stood, picking up printouts from the coffee table.
Fred glanced at them, but the man beside him intercepted the papers, scrutinizing Alexander before handing them to Fred. Fred skimmed the documents, a half-smile forming. โI wonder where you obtained these. You're right. I sent the invitations."
