Chapter 206
Melanie looked puzzled as Frank released her hand and turned to walk back to the coffee table. He picked up a pack of cigarettes, lit one, and stood by the window, looking outside. Melanie was confused. He had just shown her a shocking scene, yet hadn't forced her participation. What did he want? She took two steps forward, observing his silhouette. Memories of his recent depravity made her shudder.
Melanie remained silent, her clothes hanging loosely on her body. She felt uncertain. After smoking half his cigarette, Frank turned to look at her, his expression critical. He spoke, and Melanie remained quiet, unsure whether to feel happy or sad.
Frank had lost interest in her physically. Did this mean escape from his tormentโrespite, freedom? But it also meant the end of their arrangement. How then would she achieve her goals?
Her mind racing, Melanie acted quickly. She hugged him, resting her head on his chest. "No! Frank, did I do something wrong? I'll learn what you like and cooperate better." Frank remained still, leaning against the window as she pleaded. He raised his cigarette and gently touched her head. "You're perfect, and I like you very much. It's just that I get tired easily. How can I put this? I enjoy the game, but I need a spark, you know?"
"A spark? I can do that. What role do you want me to play? I'll try my best," Melanie thought of the annual competition; breaking up with him was impossible.
Frank laughed. "It's not about that. Your personality and body remain the same, no matter how much you change."
"So, you don't want me?" Melanie asked pitifully, lifting her head.
Frank found her gorgeous, but his mind was on someone elseโa woman he'd seen only twice, but whose image captivated him.
"I believe everyone can have a happy, long-term relationship, but that doesn't stop me from looking for something new," Frank replied smoothly, almost sanctimoniously. Melanie frowned, understanding. "You have a new target, right?"
"You're the best, you understand me so well!" He flicked her face. "Will you help me?" Melanie bit her lip, a little angry. "Aren't you afraid I'll be jealous?" "Hahaha, I wasn't jealous when you and Nate were together, so why would you be jealous?" Frank said, smiling. "You and Iโwe get what we want. You satisfy me, and I'll do the same for you."
It was unpleasant, but true. Their relationship wasn't based on love, but on mutual benefit.
Melanie's mood was calm when Frank released her. Looking into his eyes, she said, "You're right. You make me happy, and vice versa. If you want something new, I have someone in mind who can satisfy you."
