“Wait a minute. What are you guys planning?” Olivia seized the opportunity to interject. “Were you talking about the research center?”

“Yes, the vaccine research center,” Edward replied, turning to her. “But it has nothing to do with you. We’ll take care of it. Just go home and rest.”

Olivia looked up, shoving him aside. “I can do more than that. I may know little about what’s happening, but I’ve done my part.” She approached Alexander, holding up a bag. “I completed Lily’s experiment at the studio and bottled the final products. I also brought her notes; you might find them helpful.”

Alexander took the bag, surprised and puzzled. “Lily’s experiment? It must be related to the perfumes, right? Thank you.” His gratitude belied a lack of genuine interest.

Anticipating his reaction, Olivia smiled. “Just read them.”

Alexander, intrigued by her expression, opened the bag and examined a notebook. His eyebrows rose as he browsed its contents. “The experiment is…”

“It’s not just about perfumes, but medicinal herbs,” Olivia explained. “Lily discovered some herbs with unique scents that yield unexpected effects as essential oils and fragrances. Professor Thompson wasn’t entirely wrong—it’s a win-win situation to provide pleasant experiences while curing patients. Others only misled and corrupted him.” Olivia had pieced together Professor Thompson’s beliefs and Lily’s experiences after reading the notes and refining the experiment’s results. She’d brought the creations hoping to help Alexander, unaware Edward would be present or involved.

“There’s also this,” Olivia said, retrieving her phone and opening her email. After entering her password and encryption key, she displayed several emails. “Some big shot contacted Lily, wanting custom perfumes. She was busy and refused, but the person persisted.”

Lily had handled the matter, leaving Olivia restless and prompting her to review the emails. She discovered unread messages.

“These emails are from Yudonia!” Alexander stated gravely.

Olivia nodded. “And the sender is royalty. The last few emails seemed highly unusual, so I thought I should show them to you. By the way, is Lily safe?”

Alexander studied the emails, his expression serious. Finally, he said, “She’s still alive.”

Olivia and Edward breathed sighs of relief. “Good to hear that,” they said simultaneously.

Alexander’s brow, however, remained furrowed. He thought, All I know is that she’s still alive…for now.
