Spoiled by Mr. Russell, Chapter 2037

Dominic was surprised by Galen's good behavior, pausing before bursting into laughter, tears welling in his eyes. "Uncle Dom, why are you out of bed?" Austin asked, glancing over his shoulder mid-treatment. "Get some rest. I'll check your wrist pulse when I'm finished."

"I'm fine! I'll just observe," Dominic said kindly, shaking his head. Austin, surprised, nodded and returned to his work.

Although the servants had been ill for some time, their symptoms were mild, with only the most severely affected occasionally vomiting blood. Adequate provisions ensured the virus didn't severely impact their health.

That morning, Austin announced he would perform acupuncture based on an ancient medical text, the servants patiently awaiting their turns. They lined up as instructed, even Galen lending a hand. Everything proceeded smoothly, restoring a lively atmosphere to the estate.

Meanwhile, Dominic sat, wanting to hold Galen, but the child wriggled free and climbed down. "Grandpa, sit here!" Galen patted Dominic's arm soothingly before returning to wringing towels.

Dominic watched them work, eventually joining in. Austin, seeing him approach, quickly said, "Y-You don't have to help, okay? I can handle it."

"This is my estate. How can I let you do everything alone? Besides, I'm not dead, okay?" Dominic retorted playfully, causing Austin to laugh.

Hours later, after the last acupuncture treatment, the trio felt famished. Austin, unable to lift his arms, confessed to being utterly exhaustedโ€”more so than ever before in his career. He had previously only treated wealthy and noble families, never dedicating this much time, and had always been handsomely compensated. Despite working for free this time, he felt a profound sense of happiness. For the first time, he experienced the true joy of healing, understanding medicine's deeper meaning. Witnessing the virus sufferers recover brought a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment beyond any monetary reward or acclaim.

Though Dominic knew Austin's intentions were good, he couldn't resist teasing, "You just couldn't wait to show off, could you?"

Austin chuckled, "Yes, I was showing off! Now that I finally found a way to treat it, I just had to!"

The two shared a look and erupted in laughter. Galen soon joined them, though unsure of the reason.

"Come on, let's eat. I'm starving!" Dominic scooped up the boy and headed toward the house.
