Listen to this chapter:

Dominic tapped his notebook. "Even a short interval provides helpful information. See? The wrist pulse records show little overall change, but there are differences. The morning, afternoon, and evening readings show noticeable fluctuations here and here. Oh?"

He sounded astonished, as if making a significant discovery.

"What's wrong?" Austin asked eagerly.

Dominic narrowed his eyes, then waved. "Get me my glasses."

He was farsighted. Though he owned reading glasses, he rarely wore them, unwilling to admit his age. He usually didn't need them for preparing medicine or gardening.

Austin, surprised by his request, quickly retrieved the glasses. Dominic put them on and carefully reread each line.

Curious, Austin leaned closer, but saw nothing unusual; these were his own notes.

"How curious," Dominic mused, tilting his head.

Austin, though curious, didn't interrupt. He knew his granduncle needed time to consider his discovery. After a while, Dominic lay back, staring at the ceiling. Seeing this, Austin straightened, standing silently aside. He then picked up his notebook and reviewed his notes.

'Although the pulse records show little change, variations exist. From a herbal medicine perspective, Uncle Dom's vitality has suffered from damage to various organs. Does this mean the virus attacked different organs at different times?'

Austin felt this was what had caught Dominic's attention.

"Uncle Dom..." After a moment, he saw Dominic close his eyes and ask tentatively, "Do the variations at different times reflect changes in the virus's activity?"

Dominic slowly opened his eyes, looked at his grandnephew, and nodded.

Austin was thrilled. He'd correctly guessed Dominic's thought. Austin had always doubted himself, feeling incompetent, ashamed of his inability to help despite being called a miracle doctor. That's why he'd started taking notes, hoping to assist Dominic. His seemingly simple method had proven helpful.
