"You could rescue your son," Rhea said calmly. "When you find the organization, you'll have the chance to save him, won't you?"
"I could still save my son without locating the organization," Mike replied, shaking his head.
Rhea sneered. "How will you do that? If you could, you would have rescued him long ago, wouldn't you?" Without waiting for his answer, she continued, "If we locate them, I can help you hold the organization's key members hostage. They'll be willing to exchange your son for them, don't you think?"
Mike felt tempted. He blamed himself for not considering this sooner. He'd gradually lost his nerve to fight back, likely due to years of forced compliance. He hadn't even considered kidnapping the organization's members.
He thought, 'I didn't even dare defy the boss, let alone the organization. Rhea is far more ruthless and daring than I am.'
"I'll help you save your son if you help me locate the organization," Rhea stated. "Once I secure my place within the organization, I'll ensure they spare your and your son's lives." She threw him a disdainful look.
Mike wanted to mock her but refrained, fearing her retaliation. They were, after all, in the same predicament.
"All right, I'll help you," Mike said, rising. "But what about him?" He gestured towards the boss. "Even if we locate the organization, do you think they'll let you off the hook when they discover you've used him as a guinea pig?"
Rhea chuckled, unafraid. "Do you think the organization cares about him? If they did, they wouldn't have abandoned him. He's nothing more than a pawn. They only used him as a front, and now the experiment is over, they no longer need him!"
She gave the "boss" a contemptuous glance. They'd initially believed him to be important, a representative of the organization, but his disappearance had caused little impact. Even Rick hadn't been angry, quickly letting Mike and Lily go.
From that moment, Rhea realized their former boss was insignificant. They were all expendable; no one was truly superior.
