Mike relaxed, seeing the agitated Rhea and the nearly lifeless โboss.โ He was intrigued by Rheaโs proposition.
โSo, tell me,โ he began, casually pulling up a chair, โhow can we cooperate? How will we fight this organization?โ
Rhea looked at him firmly. โI still have leverage.โ
โOh?โ Mike raised an eyebrow, smiling. โWhat leverage? Donโt tell me you have a more powerful virus that can force their hand.โ
โWhat makes you think I donโt?โ she sneered, radiating confidence.
Mike, initially dismissive, began to harbor doubts. Does she genuinely have something we can use?
โWhatโs your leverage?โ he asked again.
โThatโs not your concern. Just know we have bargaining power,โ Rhea replied. โMike, will you cooperate or not?โ
Mike collected his thoughts, lowering his gaze. He needed to remain calm and resist her influence. Rhea was exceptionally eloquent and calculating; he couldnโt fall into her trap. Who knows what her real intentions are?
After considering this, he looked at her. โSince you have leverage, why cooperate with me? You can negotiate with the organization yourself.โ
He stared into her eyes, searching for any hesitation. Rheaโs response was immediate. โI need you to pave the way.โ
โMe? Pave the way?โ Mike was puzzled.
โI know you can reach the organization; I canโt,โ Rhea explained. โI need you as a middleman. Theyโll be interested in what I have.โ
Mike burst into laughter. โI think thereโs a misunderstanding. Why would I have access to the organization? Besides him and Rick, no one can reach them. Iโm no different from you.โ He gestured towards the โboss.โ โInstead of me, why not ask him?โ
โHim?โ Rhea glanced at the man disdainfully. โHeโs a castaway, useless.โ
โBut he can still contact them. Heโs not entirely useless.โ
โDo you think heโll talk?โ Rhea suddenly grabbed the manโs neck, tilting his head back.
This action revealed the manโs face, causing Mike to gasp. His already terrifying appearance was even more horrific; new scars marred his flesh, not like knife cuts, but as if forcibly ripped apart.
A shiver ran down Mikeโs spine. His eyes widened, but after a moment, he averted his gaze, unable to bear the sight.
