Listen to this chapter:

Edward didn't know what else he could do.

"Listen to me, and don't do anything rash," Lily said. "Do you think we couldn't just catch him? That's easy, but what about those he's working for, and their network?"

"Have I...made a mistake?" Edward hesitated. He had stuck to his plan since regaining his volition, but now realized he might be making a massive error. "Nothing has happened yet, and you can still stop this," Lily consoled him. "However..."

She sighed quietly, looking at the unconscious man. She never expected Edward to be here, doing all this before she and Mike could execute their plan.

Lily palmed her forehead, rubbing her brows. This was tricky. Meanwhile, Mike, his thigh throbbing painfully, looked pale and breathed heavily. He sat weakly beside the fallen man, glaring.

The man looked genuinely repulsive, and Mike wanted to kill him, recalling his words and actions.

"Ma'am..." Edward called hesitantly.

Lily looked at him. "How many bombs did you set?"

Edward was puzzled. "Not many, but enough to blow up the whole building."

Lily was stunned. This is crazy! she thought. If Mike and I hadn't come here, and Edward hadn't asked us to leave, this place would have been rubble by now. What a close shave! She broke out in a cold sweat. "Can we defuse the bombs?" she asked.

"Yes, but it'll take some time," Edward said. "They're remote-controlled, butโ€”"

Hurried footsteps sounded outside. The trio knew the approaching individuals worked for the organization; regular employees couldn't access this floor.

Mike exchanged glances with the others, pressed his wound, and forced himself to his feet. "I'll handle them."

Edward, however, doubted Mike could manage it and wanted to help. "Let me do it!"

Mike shot him a pained glare. "You? Do you plan to take them all down? How many can you handle?"

Before Edward could answer, Mike added, "Do you know they have firearms?"

Edward was speechless. He knew overwhelming armed men would be impossible, no matter his fighting skills. Mike said, "Just leave it to me!"

He went out and pushed a button. The bookcase door slowly closed.
