On the second day, Alexander learned the situation was far less optimistic than he'd anticipated. Dominic had fallen unconscious.

Early the following morning, Austin prepared porridge and served it to Dominic. However, upon reaching Dominic's room, Austin noticed his granduncle's face was unnaturally flushed. Dominic appeared to be in a deep sleep and unresponsive.

Austin felt Dominic's forehead; it was burning hot. He took a thermometer; the reading was 102 degrees. While a regular fever might warrant antipyretics, the symbiote's unpredictable reaction precluded that option. "Who knows how the symbiote will react to antipyretics?" he mused. "It might cause a reaction."

Austin could only attempt to lower Dominic's temperature physically, repeatedly wiping his body. After some time, his temperature subsided slightly, but he remained unconscious. Alexander arrived, offering no better solution. He even considered seeking medical attention.

To prevent disease spread, Alexander considered a private hospital or a house call, but realized this was likely beyond a general practitioner's capabilities.

At noon, Cameron called to check on Alexander. After a pause, Alexander replied, "I'm afraid I can't go there right now." He then explained the situation fully.

Cameron, due to his status, possessed access to sensitive information. He knew of the mysterious organization, though he hadn't expected Rhea's involvement. His prior poisoning had made him intimately familiar with the organization's capabilities.

Cameron listened patiently. After a moment, he said, "I see. Is there anything I can do to help?"

"Not yet," Alexander replied. "However, if possible, could you send someone to monitor the situation in the nearest city to contain the virus's spread? It's not just the virus; the organization is studying many things. I don't know what other viruses are involved."

"I know, but..."

Sensing Cameron's hesitation, Alexander asked, "What is it?"

"Their main target right now is probably the vaccine base," Cameron murmured after a long pause.

Alexander fell silent, understanding immediately. The organization's manipulation of Cameron, including his poisoning, had been geared towards altering the project's direction. This went beyond simply enriching Fabian. Their ultimate goal was using the vaccine base for experimental research and, ultimately, to spread the virus via the vaccine itself. The thought sent chills down their spines.

Alexander cleared his throat. "We have personnel at the vaccine base; we'll monitor the situation. For those outside, I'll leave that to you."

"It's my responsibility," Cameron replied without hesitation. "Are you alright?"

"I'm managing for now. Could you arrange a doctor's visit if possible?" Alexander asked.

Austin, passing by, said, "There's no need for that." Alexander didn't respond.

"Is someone with you?" Cameron asked, his tone immediately alert.
