That punch landed squarely on Austin's stomach, eliciting a growl as he staggered back. He pointed at Alexander, a torrent of words choked back, managing only, "Fuck!"

"I don't know what's happening either," Alexander replied. "I'm unsure if it's a virus, an infectious disease, or..." He paused. "You're medical professionals, and even you don't know?"

"Do you think I would?" Austin retorted. "I was just checking for anything unusual. Don't read too much into it."

Before Dominic regained consciousness, Alexander couldn't mention the symbiote; he didn't understand it himself. Austin's impulsiveness worried him; he feared escalating the situation. However, Austin noticed Alexander's hesitation. What could it be, if not a virus or disease? he wondered.

Perhaps their commotion, or simply the passage of time, stirred Dominic. He moved slightly, instantly refocusing both men's attention. "Old man!" Alexander exclaimed, rushing to his side.

"Yeah..." Dominic murmured, the word barely audible, yet sufficient.

"Uncle Dom!" Austin, forgetting his stomach pain, pounced forward. "You're awake! How are you feeling? Cold? Any discomfort?" He practically shoved Alexander aside in his urgency. Alexander, understanding Austin's anxiety, readily moved to give him space. Dominic, however, glanced at Austin before returning his gaze to Alexander, then raised a hand slightly.

Alexander immediately took Dominic's hand. "I'm listening."

"Help... me... up," Dominic rasped, needing to breathe between each word. His eyes fluttered closed, conserving energy. Though conscious, he was clearly weak and exhausted.

Austin helped Dominic sit up, placing a pillow behind him. The energetic man Dominic had always been seemed drastically aged. The sight upset Austin deeply. "Uncle Dom, how are you feeling? It's all my fault! I've searched for information, but I can't find what this is! Don't worry, I'll find outโ€”I'll get the antidote, even if I have to storm their headquarters!" Austin choked, tears welling in his eyes. He felt responsible; he believed Dominic wouldn't be in this state if he hadn't rescued him. He vowed to save Dominic, no matter the cost.

"Get out of here!" Dominic roared, his eyes rolling.

Austin fell silent, his emotions stilled, his lips pursed as he stared at Dominic. Despite his weakness, Dominic was still Dominic. The reprimand, though delivered with exhaustion, filled Austin with relief.

"Your granduncle risked everything to save you," Alexander said gently. "He didn't do it so you could go back." He added quietly, "Don't be rash."

Austin was speechless.
