Listen to this chapter:

"Will I die?" Cameron asked, after a moment of reflection.

"No, that's not what I mean," Alexander hurriedly explained. "It doesn't necessarily mean you'll die, but you might experience deterioration. You might not be as strong or fit as before, but those aren't the biggest concerns. The most serious risk would be organ or brain damage."

These were unanswered questions. Only time would tell. Ideally, Lily would be here to observe Cameron daily, but that was impossible; she was at the organization's lab and couldn't leave.

"All is well if I'm not dying soon," Cameron said nonchalantly. He had weathered countless storms; this was nothing. Besides, he had more pressing matters. He would recuperate only after settling his unfinished business.

"Dad..." Anastasia's voice was distraught as she squeezed his hand. He shook his head, reassuring her.

"Let's not worry unduly. There are two pills left. Take them as instructed, and we'll address the rest later," Alexander said.

Cameron nodded. "Okay."

"Will my father be in danger?" Anastasia's concern remained, despite the men's apparent unconcern. Their light tone masked an underlying gravity she sensed.

"It's fine," Cameron said, comforting her. "It's not like I haven't faced adversity before. This is nothing!" He smiled gently. "Don't overthink it. I'll know my limits."

"You really don't need to worry, Anastasia," Alexander added, seeing her distress. "It's just a possibility. Like with surgeryโ€”doctors always outline the worst-case scenarios, even if the odds are low, to prepare you."

Anastasia, though still worried, knew she needed to be strong for her father. Taking a deep breath, she nodded. "Okay! I'll stay by my father's side. If anything goes wrong, I'll call you and Lily immediately."

Cameron's attention shifted to Alexander at the mention of Lily. "Mrs. Russell..."

"She has pressing matters to attend to," Alexander explained simply. It wasn't a lack of trust in Cameron; he had just awakened and hadn't fully recovered. Knowing the truth might be too much of a shock.

Furthermore, Lily had mentioned the experimental product's high probability of failure, according to the data. Regardless of the outcome, she wanted someone to closely monitor Cameron's condition.

Alexander, pressed for time due to Lily's absence, spoke quickly and cautiously. Looking at the father and daughter, their loving gaze locked, a wave of concern washed over him.
