At that time, Cameron was clearly on guard. He knew he could restrain Rhea if necessary, but he hadn't anticipated her move.
Alexander shook his head. "I have no idea. The poison is in Rhea's hands. The organization has been studying various new viruses for a considerable time. So many new virus strains erupted simultaneously."
Cameron was aware of the previous plague. As a secretary with access to confidential information, he had been involved in investigations and arrests. He never expected Rhea's involvement, nor that he would fall into her trap.
"Now, the vaccine development project is in their hands!" Cameron exclaimed, his worry evident. He had helplessly watched his former self relinquish the project to Fabian. Now, regaining control, he needed to act.
"That may be a good thing," Alexander said slowly.
"Huh?" Cameron raised an eyebrow, sensing Alexander's hidden reasoning.
"With Fabian controlling the vaccine development, the organization can exploit the research base and recklessly study various viruses. They also plan to use the vaccine as a tool for manipulation and profit," Alexander explained, tapping his fingers on the armrest. "That's likely their method of spreading the virus. While seemingly dangerous, at least we know their gathering point."
Cameron listened intently. "You mean, this is a trap?"
Alexander nodded. "Yes, but they're cunning. After days of observation, they haven't fully committed. All we know is that a dwarf with a distinctive, unpleasant voice leads them. He may be injured and possibly from Hyderland."
"Based on his appearance?" Cameron asked after a pause.
"No. He's fluent in English and knowledgeable about our culture, but he's lived abroad for a long time and may have suffered trauma. He seems to have antisocial personality disorder," Alexander concluded.
Cameron looked at Alexander. "Have you seen this man?"
Alexander shook his head. "No, but Mike and Lily have."
"This man is dangerous. We must restrain him," Cameron said, his usual seriousness returning.
"While dangerous, the person behind him is even more so. Their identity is unknown, yet they manipulated the entire organization." That person was their ultimate target.
After a silence, Cameron asked, "So, you deliberately let Fabian take the vaccine development project?"
Alexander smiled faintly. "If I wanted it, do you think he would have succeeded?"
His arrogance was justified by his capabilities.
Cameron finally smiled, his tension easing. The poison had clouded his judgment. In his anger and anxiety, he'd forgotten that even if he couldn't stop it, Alexander wouldn't passively watch Fabian seize the projectโunless it was all part of Alexander's plan.
