Regardless of whether those were mere words of comfort, Anastasia felt significantly better. Alexander was right. Lily's last visit revealed Cameron had been poisoned; she even produced the silver needle Rhea had used to subdue him. Lily then instructed Alexander to administer an antidote. Had Cameron been beyond saving, she wouldn't have intervened.
"Is this truly a typical detoxification reaction? Am I overthinking?"
Just then, a loud commotion erupted downstairs. Before Fabian even appeared, his booming voice preceded him. "Be careful carrying him. Watch your heads, and don't fall! As for what happened today, keep your mouths shut! Do you understand?!" he bellowed, his arrogance evident.
A chorus of unruly voices responded, "Got it!"
Both Anastasia and Alexander were stunned.
'Is this what Fabian meant by finding "reliable people" who wouldn't spread the news?' With such a large group, the news would spread like wildfire the moment Cameron left the house. Fabian was incredibly naive; no wonder his business stagnated.
He soon entered, asking, "How's everything? Is your father still coughing?"
Anastasia, nervous and still tearful, but calmer, replied, "My dad is fine."
Unaware of her composure, Fabian breathed a sigh of relief at Cameron's survival. He nodded, saying, "That's good, that's good. There's still hope. I'll have my men take your father away. The car's waiting downstairs. We'll go straight to the hospital."
"It's okay," Anastasia said, wiping her tears and standing. "Don't trouble yourself, Uncle Fabian. Dad is very weak; I don't think he should be moved. Tell the men outside to leave."
"What? Why?!" Fabian exclaimed, incredulous.
'I've only been gone a few minutes, and she's changed her mind?! Why is this girl so easily manipulated? What have these people given her?!' He thought. "Tasia, your father's life is at stake, and you're still stubborn! I can't let him die! I'll take him now! I think they've drugged you!"
"Uncle Fabian, do not touch my father!" Anastasia shouted, blocking his path.
"We'll see who can stop me!" Fabian roared, turning to his men. "Go!"
The men surged forward. Though nervous, Anastasia stood firm, arms outstretched protectively. "Who dares touch my father?!"
"I do!" Fabian bellowed. "What? Am I nothing to you anymore?! You spoiled brat! You eat my food, I've cared for you since childhood, and this is how you repay me?! You team up with outsiders to bully me?! I..."
