Listen to this chapter:

Seeing Dominic finally turn to look at him, Austin was delighted. "Uncle Dom, don't waste your time! These medical books are a thousand years old. No matter how good they were, they can't keep pace with a constantly evolving society. Besides, these viruses were developed abroad; they're new and mutable. These ancient texts offer no solutions." He felt Dominic's efforts were pointless.

Although Austin had studied traditional medicine, he knew its limitations. It was designed for everyday illnesses, not this novel virus. The virus, when injected, could even manipulate his pulse. Traditional medicine couldn't compete with foreign technology.

"Who told you that?!" Dominic glared. "What have you learned from me these past few years? Nothing!"

Austin fell silent.

"No matter how advanced modern medicine is, it's built upon centuries of accumulated wisdom. The core principles remain the same. The plague was worse, yet humankind overcame it. Since this virus is man-made, humans must eradicate it!" Dominic explained, shutting his book and tapping Austin's head. "Don't move!"

Reprimanded, Austin lay down obediently. However, he mumbled, "Yes, but that was a long process. How many died, and how many years passed before they stopped the plague? Also, this group is researching multiple viruses. It'll take forever for people to..." He trailed off.

The only way to overcome this is to obtain the detailed process and data of the virus's development. Then scientists can develop a targeted antidote. But how is that possible? Even escaping was harder than leaving hell. I got lucky. We don't know the organization's location or how many secrets they're hiding. Dominic remained silent, guessing Austin's unspoken thoughts. He removed his glasses and sighed, thinking of Lily.

"Uncle Dom, didn't Lily come just now?" Austin, not hearing the servant, assumed Lily had visited and wondered if she'd left.

"It wasn't her," Dominic grumbled at the mention of Lily. He leaned back, sipping his tea.

Huh? He sounds upset.

Austin looked at Dominic. "Uncle Dom, did you and Lily fight?"

"Enough with the nosiness!" Dominic slapped Austin's back.

Austin grunted resentfully. I just asked a simple question. Why's the old man so riled up?

"Uncle Dom, I'm still a patient!"

"Who said you're a patient? You're fine now! You can leave tomorrow!"

Austin was speechless. Dominic's tone was harsh, yet he carefully checked the needles on Austin's back. Austin's skin was regaining color; he looked much better. However, things seemed too easy.
