Listen to this chapter:

"Me?" Lily was puzzled.

"You told her to be careful because she's pregnant, but what about you? Have you forgotten you're pregnant too?" Alexander said gently, placing a hand on her swollen belly. It pained him to see her rushing around. Besides sharing her burden, he felt helpless.

Lily burst into laughter, then, seeing his concern, simply nodded. "Okay, I'll listen to you."

Reassured, Alexander finally called someone to locate Edward.

Meanwhile, Edward drove through a majestic gate into an underground parking lot. Exiting his car, he entered a waiting black jeep whose engine was running, and drove away.

Alexander soon persuaded Lily to go to bed. After all, Edward's return was uncertain; the person tracking him hadn't reported back.

Lily went upstairs and lay awake, her mind racing, though her body was weary. Eventually, she drifted off. Waking, she found Alexander still absent. It was nearly three in the morning.

'It's so late,' she thought.

She went downstairs, noticing the study light was on and the door ajar. Alexander was inside.

Approaching quietly, she heard nothing, so gently pushed the door open. He was asleep, leaning back in his chair, his phone still in his hand, his brow furrowed in his sleep.

Lily's heart ached; the dark circles under his eyes mirrored her own exhaustion. He was carrying everything alone.

She reached for a blanket to cover him. The slight movement woke him. His eyes snapped open, then softened when he saw her. "Why are you downstairs? Didn't you sleep well? Maybe light some scented candles?"

"Why aren't you sleeping upstairs?" Lily smiled, shaking her head. Glancing at his phone, she asked, "Still no news on Edward?"

"We found him," Alexander said, shaking his head.

Lily was shocked. She'd expected a different answer. "Then...?"

The silence stretched. She'd assumed Edward was still untraceable. Alexander's solemn expression puzzled her. "It's more complicated than we thought," Alexander said, pinching the bridge of his nose. "My subordinate followed him, but couldn't gain access. He waited outside for Edward's car, but it seems Edward's still inside the building."

"He couldn't get in?" Her mind raced. She couldn't imagine a place Edward could enter, but they couldn't.
