Chapter 1722

Alexander showed no joy, his expression solemn. "I received news about him about two weeks ago, but I didn't tell you because you were busy," he explained casually. "He's safe and alive."

"That's great news!" Lily exclaimed, sighing with relief. She then reached for her phone to make a call.

"What are you doing?" Alexander asked, taking her hand.

Lily pulled her hand away. "I'm calling Olivia! Oh, did your men tell her?"

Alexander stopped her, holding both her hands. "You don't have to. She knows."

At that moment, Lily sensed his unusual behavior. He wasn't thrilled; he seemed unhappy. Why?

"Did something happen?" she asked hesitantly, various scenarios flashing through her mind. Could Edward be injured or disfigured?

Furrowing his brow, Alexander collected his thoughts. "About two weeks ago, our men found Edward. We don't know when he returned, but he's with Olivia. However, he refuses to return to the company."

"What do you mean?" Lily asked, stunned.

"Our men tried to collect him, but were turned away. I tried calling and messaging him, but…" Alexander paused, looking into her eyes. "He's blocked me."

"Blocked you?" Lily was astonished. Edward, the most loyal person she knew, would never do such a thing, especially to Alexander. Edward's loyalty and sacrifice had been instrumental in Alexander's safe return. This was completely out of character.

"But… why?" Lily asked, utterly bewildered.

Alexander shook his head, equally perplexed. "I'm afraid he has to tell me in person."

"You're going to meet him?" Lily asked, understanding dawning on her face.

Alexander nodded.

"Now?"

"We should have time." He checked his watch. "Let's go together."
