Chapter 153

"You" Melanie sputtered, about to retort when Frank intervened. "Mel, this must be Lily Christian, the one you mentioned."

Melanie nodded, stunned. "Yes, it's her."

"Ms. Christian," Frank began slowly, "removing an ingredient from the essential oil formula—while seemingly minor—yielded drastically different results. You're quite smart." Lily raised an eyebrow. "Are you the one Nathaniel brought in to help?"

No wonder Nathaniel had stopped worrying. Sapphine's reports indicated MN Inc.'s factory had reopened. Nathaniel must have solved the essential oil formula issue. Lily knew MN Inc.'s existing staff couldn't have done it alone; he'd hired outside help. Preoccupied with work in Middle Valley, she hadn't considered this until now.

Lily didn't know Frank, but his treatment by the organizer last night and his insight into the formula indicated exceptional capability. Why would someone like him help Nathaniel? Facing Frank's subtle sarcasm, Lily replied, "Thank you for the compliment." She had no desire for conflict, but Melanie, having witnessed Lily in Sapphine's first-class cabin, wouldn't let it go. Their past encounters had been nothing but trouble for Melanie, and this seemed a perfect opportunity for retribution.

"Are you stupid?" Melanie sneered, pushing up her sleeves. "Who do you think you are to deserve a compliment from Mr. Moreau? You're a kindergartener compared to him! Your 'tricks' are pathetic. Stop embarrassing yourself. You must think you're invincible since joining Rebirth, but it's not La Beauté! And why would La Beauté even cover for you? Look at yourself! Stop the daydreaming!"

Jenny, witnessing this, stepped between them. "No matter where Lily stands, she relies on herself, unlike some people who steal and brag about it—shameless!" Jenny, though usually calm, couldn't tolerate Melanie's tirade.

Melanie's face flushed crimson. "Who are you? This is between Lily and me!"

"Lily's my colleague and friend," Jenny retorted, puffing out her chest. "Her business is my business." Her support touched Lily.

Melanie sneered, "Oh, another Rebirth minion. No wonder you're so arrogant! Lily's a two-faced b*tch. Consider this a warning."

"I'll judge for myself," Jenny retorted.
