"But if you don't behave, don't blame us," the man said, rising. He was unusually short, appearing to have slid from his chair. As he half-knelt before Mike, they were eye to eye, a stark contrast to his commanding voice and demeanor. He seemed like an underdeveloped child.

"Mike, don't think I'm unaware of your thoughts. Do you believe the Russell family can save your son?" His voice was dismissive, his cunning eyes, hidden behind the mask, unreadable.

"I know they can't, and neither can I. I've always obeyed your instructions. I only did it for the organization." Mike caught his breath, enduring the pain in his stomach.

"Oh?"

"You might have underestimated Lily. She's not just a perfumer and pharmacist; she has the backing of the Russell family. I know that family is nothing compared to the organization, but we're in Hyderland and Kingsland. If anything happens to her here, the police will locate this place quickly. Even if you and the organization aren't afraid, any mistakes now would have serious consequences."

The masked man paced silently, hands clasped behind him, his small stature oddly comical.

Mike continued, "Besides, Rhea's imprisonment of Austin has already caused trouble. I suspect the police will locate this place soon!"

"If you hadn't stopped me, I would have kept Lily here as my specimen, and the police could never find this place!"

Rhea snorted. "The truth is, you let her go because she's your friend!"

"I don't need—" Rhea began to deny it, but was cut short.

"Enough!" the masked man said. "You said the police have noticed the research institute?"
