Chapter 1500
Olivia was anxious, unable to settle down for a chat. "Lily, didโฆ did something happen?" Tears welled in her eyes, threatening to spill. She looked fragile.
"No! Nothing happened!" Lily decided against mentioning Edward yet, instead taking Olivia's hand. "I have something to tell you, but try not to get too upset, okay? Otherwise, I won't be able to tell you."
A bad feeling lingered in Olivia's heart, but she trusted Lily and nodded. "Okay, I'll listen. I'll accept anything you say." Despite her calm face, Lily felt Olivia trembling.
Lily's grip tightened. "They're back."
"Who?"
Olivia's initial surprise quickly shifted to understanding. Her eyes sparkled. "Really?! They're back?! Where are they? Why didn't they come home? How dare he?!"
Before Lily could respond, Olivia continued, "Oh, I know! He still needs to carry out some tasks for Mr. Russell, am I right? That's why he told you to pass me the message."
The sadness vanished; the trembling ceased. Olivia was transformed. Lily nodded.
"Yeah! There are still things to settle. They can't come home yet, not even Alex. But since they're back, there's no need for you or me to go to Burnwken."
"That's good! It's good they're home. Of course, we won't have to go to Burnwken anymore!" Olivia was overjoyed. "You can rest easy now. I'll let you know if I hear any updates. Once they've settled things, they'll naturally be able to come home."
Lily's last words were laced with guilt. She knew nothing of Edward's situation, but this was the only comfort she could offer. Olivia, unsuspecting, nodded happily. Lily's absence from Burnwken meant everything was fine.
"All right, I will. I'm glad he's fine. I'm not very clingy, but Iโฆ" Olivia paused, then remembered something. "Lily, did you ask Edward why his wedding ring was with someone else?"
The piece of skin was easily explainedโa fake. But Olivia was certain the ring was real. Lily knew she couldn't lie. "I don't know either."
