Chapter 148
He truly cared for her in every way he could.
After breakfast, they departed for the site. Although it was barely 7:00 a.m., and a morning breeze blew, the temperature difference between night and day was noticeable. Lily wore a thin cardigan and a sun hat; they needed to take precautions against sunburn at the nursery.
This time, their transport was a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon instead of a Rolls-Royce. Jenny remained silent, but her excitement at seeing the vehicle was evident. The SUV looked fantastic and was perfect for their journey, thanks to its off-road capabilities.
"What a great arrangement by the company! I didn't know they had so many car models to choose from," Jenny exclaimed, admiring the view outside the window.
She then turned to Lily. Lily, resting her head against the window, sensed Jenny's gaze. She continued staring out the window, trying to appear oblivious, fearing Jenny would notice something. However, Jenny wouldn't let the matter drop. Leaning closer, she whispered, "Your boyfriend isn't part of La Beautรฉ Group's management team, is he?" Lily glanced at Jenny. "If he were," she replied, "why would I be here at Rebirth? Wouldn't I be working at headquarters?" Jenny considered this; Lily's words made sense. "However it happened," Jenny said, "we received exceptional service this time. I'll be disappointed if we don't get the same treatment on future trips." Lily pretended not to hear.
They soon arrived at the nursery's main entrance, spotting numerous flower beds as they approached. A vibrant array of colors lifted their spirits. The flower beds covered vast expanses of land that seemed endless. After the car stopped, they opened the doors and were greeted by the sweet scent of flowers. "Achoo! Achoo!" Lily sneezed, feeling better only after putting on her facemask.
Lily had a keen sense of smell, instantly differentiating fragrances. This might explain her sensitive nose; intense aromas were overpowering. Jenny empathized; the aromas were intense to her as well, though her sense of smell was less acute. Having already contacted the nursery's management, someone was waiting to greet them. The person in charge gave a brief introduction before leading them on a tour.
"The roses are all here," he said. "While only one type of flower, many species are represented. Over there are the sunflowers, and on that side, the camellias."
The person in charge spoke proudly. "Even in all of Hyderland, you won't find a nursery with as many different kinds of flowers as ours. I assure you, whatever flowers you're looking for, you'll find them here."
"Can we look around ourselves?" Jenny asked.
"Well sure," he said hesitantly. "But be careful not to get lost. This place is enormous, and it would be a long walk back if you go too far."
"Don't worry about it!" Jenny promised.
