Chapter 1465
After comforting Olivia for a while, Lily sent someone to take her home. Turning around, she found Daisy already in the living room. Lily couldn't guess how long Daisy had been there; her sharp gaze, however, prevented any outward shock. Daisy seemed poised to speak.
Lily regarded her intently before settling onto the sofa. "What is it? Do you have something to say?"
Daisy faced Lily. "Madam, don't you have something to say to me?"
Lily froze momentarily, then resumed her tea. "Oh? I should say something?"
"Is that not the case?" Daisy's voice was soft, her eyes downcast, her hands clasped. She projected an image of honesty, competence, and respect.
"You're smart. A very smart woman." Lily set down her teacup, leaning against a pillow. "I have nothing to say. I want to hear what you have to say."
"What do you mean?" Daisy asked.
"Tell me what I want to hear. You know what I'm talking about." Lily was surprised Daisy initiated this, but relieved she had. It saved Lily further worry.
Daisy slowly looked up. "Are you talking about my ability to pick locks, Madam?"
Lily's eyebrows rose. She hadn't expected such directness. "It's not on your resume, nor have you mentioned it," Lily probed gently.
"I didn't think it was relevant to my job, and I have no personal use for it. That's why I omitted it. Madam, I understand your doubts. It's my fault for not mentioning it. I've caused you worry."
Daisy's response was impeccable, yet it only heightened Lily's suspicions. Daisy's resume was flawless. Why would someone so capable settle for being a nanny? "That's not all I'm worried about. How did you find out I knew?" It was astonishing how quickly Daisy learned this, given Lily had never shared it with anyone. Her intuition was exceptional.
"I heard it from the young master," Daisy replied respectfully. "Galen told me he picked a lock on a cabinet at his grandfather's house the other dayโฆ I assumed you must have asked him where he learned."
"Galen is very young, his vocabulary is still limited."
"You guessed I knew from his words?"
"Though Galen is young and doesn't speak perfectly, he's very smart. He saw me pick a lock once and immediately copied me. I didn't expect it either," Daisy said, then knelt.
