Chapter 1442

Galen's words made Lily realize that even a young child could notice her plans; others might too. After considering this, she turned to him. "Then let's not go to Grandpa's house. Mommy will take you somewhere else first, okay?"

"Okay!" he replied. It didn't matter where they went, as long as he could play.

Lily smiled. "You're so adorable!" She started the car, adjusted her seat, and glanced in the rearview mirror at the front door. Seeing no one, and the closed door giving the house a deserted look, she looked away and said, "Hold on tight!" Then she drove off.

Lily took Galen for a morning stroll before heading to the mall. They returned with several bags of clothes, a pile of toys, and even a few art pieces, filling the car's trunk to overflowing. Galen's jaw dropped at the sight.

"Wow!" he exclaimed, speechless.

"Are you happy?" Lily asked, smiling.

"Happy!" he replied, nodding vigorously and pointing at the toys. "Are you going away for a long time?"

"How do you know?" she asked, surprised. This child was remarkably perceptive; he noticed even the smallest details. "There are so many!" she added, acknowledging his unspoken observation. He wasn't yet adept at expressing himself, but she understood. The abundance of toys and the amount of food clearly suggested a lengthy trip. He was intelligent, but too young to fully comprehend the implications.

She wouldn't have undertaken this trip if Alexander's situation weren't so unusual. She needed to see things for herself to be reassured. The situation at Burnwken was too uncertain and potentially dangerous; therefore, she couldn't take Galen with her.

"You're right," she said, "but it hasn't been decided yet, so don't tell anyone, okay?"

Pulling his hat down, he softly nodded. "Okay." He wouldn't tell anyone if his mother asked him not to.

After a simple lunch, Galen grew drowsy. He struggled to keep his eyes open, eventually succumbing to sleep. Lily carefully checked for anyone following before starting the car and driving towards Dominic's house. The little boy slept soundly in the backseat the entire journey.

He was still asleep when they arrived at Dominic's. Lily had to lift him out and open the trunk before the maids could bring the purchases inside. Dominic was napping, but heard Lily outside. He quickly slipped on his slippers, ruffled his hair, and rushed out, rubbing his sleepy eyes. "You little bastard, you won't even let me rest! What kind of drugs are you on, coming to visit every two days?" He stopped short, seeing the sleeping boy on Lily's shoulder. "H-He... why is he here again?" he stammered, his voice barely a whisper. He hurried to help. "Quickly, put him down. It must be so uncomfortable sleeping like that."

Galen let out a soft groan. "Mm... noisy..."
