"You said Mrs. Russell is Alexander's wife?"

"Don't!" Maria quickly covered his mouth. "If those words reach your brother-in-law's ears, it'll be disastrous! You know how much Ron treasures that girl. He's never looked at another woman for her sake."

Maria bristled at his abruptness. "Look who's urging me to call him again. You're the one who told me to call it off!" She turned and left.
