Chapter 1287
The following morning, Olivia arrived at the studio to find the door ajar, the lights on, and some equipment running. Confused, she wondered if she'd forgotten to turn them off the previous day.
As she entered, she heard a rustling sound. The laboratory door was closed, and it appeared someone was inside. Besides raw materials, there were flowers and plants. While the equipment was expensive, it wasn't easily stolen or resold.
"There's no way there's a thief here, right?" she mused.
Olivia cautiously opened the laboratory door. The person inside continued their work, oblivious to her presence. Seeing who it was, Olivia exclaimed, "Damn it! What are you doing?!"
She hadn't expected to find Lily there.
Lily, engrossed in her experiment, seemed not to hear. Her gaze remained fixed on a test tube, her head slightly tilted, her eyes unblinking.
Intrigued, Olivia approached and peered into the tube. "Is this a new product?" she asked.
Did Lily have a sudden burst of inspiration and rush to the studio to create something new? Olivia thought. It wasn't unusual for Lily, but it had been a while since she'd worked this intensely since joining the research institute. Olivia found Lily's return to her old work habits peculiar.
"No," Lily replied, her eyes still on the test tube.
"Whatโ" Olivia began, but a beep signaled the completion of the extraction. Half the liquid remained in the test tube.
Lily turned, carefully storing the test tube in a storage box. After securing the box, she sighed in relief. "What are youโ"
"I'm just conducting a small experiment," Lily interrupted. "By the way, don't touch this. And make sure no one else does either. I need it in two days."
"Okay," Olivia nodded. What is she doing, being so secretive? she wondered.
Lily smiled enigmatically. Olivia, understanding she shouldn't press, casually linked arms with Lily. "Oh, right! Should we accept the order from Yudonia?"
"Yudonia?" Lily's brow furrowed in confusion.
Olivia facepalmed. "You've forgotten, haven't you? I told you about it, you said to leave it until later. Now you've forgotten. The royal family is waiting for an answer."
Olivia sighed, shaking her head. She didn't know what to do with Lily. "Pregnant women have bad memories," she muttered, recalling a common saying.
After a moment, Lily's memory seemed to return. She remembered Yudonia's order from a month ago: a unique, light perfume for women in their fifties, dignified and generousโfresh yet sweet. The numerous requirements would make the final product exclusive, available only to this client.
While Lily had accepted such high-demand, high-paying jobs before, she didn't enjoy them. Firstly, she had many best-selling perfumes; she didn't need the money. Secondly, such clients were notoriously difficult to please.
"Reject them," Lily finally said.
