Chapter 1271
Alexander initially didn't understand Edward's story, realizing later that Olivia's jealousy had caused a tantrum. Edward, despite looking as if a cat had clawed his face, seemed to enjoy it. Alexander scolded him for his lack of self-respect, yet simultaneously pondered that Lily had never shown jealousy towards him.
Edward, touching his scratched face with a smug grin, declared, "She did this because she cares about me!" This made Alexander question, based on Edward's logic, whether Lily cared for him.
He mused, 'That's impossible! We've shared so much, and if anyone claimed Lily doesn't care, I wouldn't believe it. Still, something feels off.' A mosquito bite on his neck, in a place a woman might find suspicious, had been dismissed by Lily as insect-related. He wondered, 'Lily spends nearly every day with Olivia; why is her thinking so different? Why didn't she suspect a hickey?'
After receiving a precious plant, Lily happily studied it in her garden before returning to the house. She greeted Alexander and their son in the playroom before bathing. Covered in dirt, she postponed hugging Galen, intending to join him after cleaning up.
She relaxed in a warm bath infused with her homemade essential oil. Thoughts of the agarwood plant filled her with joy, prompting her to call Olivia. Olivia answered, her voice slightly muffled.
"Hello..."
Lily, excited, didn't notice the odd tone. "Liv, I got something amazing! Guess what?"
"What is it?" Olivia asked.
"Guess!"
"No idea. Some precious material? Only you'd call that 'cool.'"
Holding up a handful of water, Lily laughed. "You know me best! I got a pot of agarwood! Agarwood! I've wanted one for ages, and I finally have it! It's not huge, but I think I can grow it!"
"Agarwood? But it doesn't suit our climate, does it?"
"I thought so, but if someone could grow it and send it, there must be a way. Plus, I can adjust temperature, sunlight, and moisture. I'll try!"
"Yes, do that."
Lily finally sensed something was wrong. "Liv, what are you doing? Why do you sound so flat?"
Olivia's voice suddenly brightened. "What?! No! I'm listening! We're talking about agarwood, after all!"
"Yes, aren't you happy about it?" Lily thought, 'Whenever I brought precious plants to the studio, she was thrilled. Liv's reaction is strangely muted.'
"I'm happy! Of course! Are you bringing it to the studio tomorrow?"
"Don't be silly! It's precious! I only feel safe tending it in my garden, not out of my sight!"
As Lily finished, she heard a low grunt, clearly not Olivia's. 'Is that a man?'
Startled, Lily pulled back her phone. She considered then asked, "Liv, is Edward with you?"
