Chapter 1258

Upon entering the gate, a faint scent of plants filled the air. A profusion of unique ferns and plants, lining the path from the gate to the residence, made vehicular access impossible. The plants bordered a gravel path, requiring maids to walk a considerable distance for any errands, as car parking was limited to the main gate.

Few people visited Dominic. Initially, many sought his medical advice, but he consistently refused to see them. Repeated rejections finally made them understand his unyielding stance. He was an elderly gentleman with a peculiar disposition, making it difficult even for family members to see him, aside from his students. Over time, visits dwindled, leaving the villa's surroundings unusually tranquil.

Dominic cherished this quietude, remaining home most days, contributing to the villaโ€™s increasingly deserted appearance. Therefore, the sight of two cars parked before his gate today was unusual. Austin slowly stopped his car, gazing at the red coupe ahead in a momentary daze.

In recent years, visitors had been scarce. During his infrequent visits, Austin had never encountered anyone else. Who could be there today? While another car wasn't entirely unexpectedโ€”some remained persistent in seeking medical advice or knowledge of Dominic's herbal expertiseโ€”Dominic's uncooperative nature meant any visitor should be readily apparent. Yet, the red car sat unattended before the gate.

Austin surmised the visitor intended to see Dominic, but he doubted their success. The image of the elderly gentleman's aloof demeanor brought a smirk to Austin's lips; he was well-acquainted with it. After parking, he approached the gate. A maid intercepted him. "Mr. Austin, you cannot enter now."

"Why?" Austin frowned, surprised. He understood Dominic's preference for solitude and aversion to social interaction, limiting his own visits to a few times a year. While Dominic had previously refused him entry, it was rare, always with a stated reason.

Nearly half a year had passed since his last visit. Confident Dominic would see himโ€”he had important matters to discuss and sought his adviceโ€”he had traveled specifically for this meeting. The maid's refusal left him dissatisfied. "This isn't a casual visit. I have something important to tell him!" He started to enter, but the maid stopped him again. "Mr. Austin, you know the rules. If you insistโ€ฆ"

Austin's expression darkened before she finished. He was aware of the rules: entry required Dominic's permission. Ignoring this would mean forfeiting future visits and even recognition as a relative. Frustrated but compliant, he retraced his steps.

"Fine. I'll wait. Inform Granduncle Dominic I'm here and will only enter with his permission! Tell him it's urgent and I need his advice!"
