Chapter 1246

"We should focus more on publicity, showcasing the wonders of medicinal herbs," Austin began.

Professor Thompson interrupted, taking Austin's wrist. "Austin, I know you're knowledgeable in this field, having researched extensively and learned from a renowned teacher. Mr. Dominic is a respected figure, but some remain skeptical. It's challenging to gain public acceptance through publicity alone, but our current approach can achieve that!"

"You're not aiming for acceptance! You're simply meeting market demands for your own profit!" Austin retorted angrily.

Professor Thompson frowned, his voice hardening. "Austin! Is this how you speak to your superior? Don't forget you're only on this team because I recommended you! If you're unwilling to cooperate, you can leave."

"Professor Thompson, I believe our project is heading in the wrong direction."

Austin hesitated to leave; he'd been with the team a long time. His frustration stemmed from one central issue: Why did Professor Thompson value Lily's opinion over his? Why weren't his suggestions taken seriously?

He hadn't met Lily until the seminar. She's just an ordinary woman with limited knowledge of medicinal herbs, reliant on her husband for success in the perfumery industry. How could her words hold more weight than mine, after my training with a reputable teacher? Are they all fools?

Professor Thompson raised a hand, silencing Austin. "Enough. We finalized this project's direction months ago. Constructive comments on the research data are welcome, but there's no need for further objections." He had no intention of changing course.

Austin, feeling helpless, was about to leave when Thompson called out, "Wait, Austin. I asked you to speak with Lily yesterday. How did it go?"

"She wants to quit the team," Austin replied, lips pursed.

"I know. I wanted you to persuade her to stay," Thompson said, pushing his glasses up his nose. He paused. "Did you?" He instantly regretted assigning Austin this task, suspecting the young man had exacerbated the situation.

"I did!" Austin snapped, his irritation evident. She knows nothing and doesn't deserve my time! And she was so arrogant, splashing juice in my face!

"What did she say?"

As Austin considered his explanation, he saw Thompson's eyes brighten and a smile spread across his face. Then, Thompson walked past Austin. "Lily, you're back!"
