Chapter 1241

From the material to the craftsmanship, even the embroidery and stitching were identical to Anastasia's order.

"You're quibbling again!" she threw the dress down angrily. "If she can't tell the difference, does she even know which dress she bought?"

Lily picked up a corner of the dress, smiling. "Ms. Rollins, don't worry. I bought this dress from the same store. Although it looks very similar to the one you reserved, I don't think this is yours."

"What gives youโ€”"

"Yours must still be in the store," Lily interrupted.

Anastasia blinked, momentarily stunned.

"Ms. Rollins, did you put down a deposit for the dress you ordered?"

"Of course!" How else could she reserve a dress? She'd paid a 50% deposit for alterations.

Her home was filled with beautiful, high-quality dresses. Finding clothes that fit her figure was difficult; finding clothes that flattered her was even more so. She was a regular customer of that store, which made the situation even more infuriating when she learned someone had purchased her reserved dress.

The salesgirl explained that Lily had insisted on buying it, even after knowing it was reserved, even claiming it was a waste for someone of Anastasia's size. That was the final straw. Without proper restraint, Anastasia would have lost control.

"Exactly. If you've made a deposit, the dress is yours. Any reputable store would never sell it to someone else. Therefore, your dress must still be in the store. This is merely a replica," Lily said, lightly poking the dress.

With everything revealed, Anastasia felt a wave of relief. Yet, she picked up the dress again, carefully examining the underarms and waist. "How do I know someone hasn't worn this?" she asked pointedly. "I'm not overly fussy, but I'm not comfortable wearing something secondhand!"

Lily laughed. "You're funny, Ms. Rollins. It's a gift. How could it be used? I still have some decency."

Pausing, she rubbed her stomach. "I'm pregnant. I mostly wear casual clothes at home. This dress isn't suitable for me, but it's perfect for a pretty girl your age."

"Now you're mocking me," Anastasia frowned at the compliment. She was a girl; she still cared about beauty.

Anastasia was obese. Despite her family's prominence, she felt ashamed of her figure, her pride clashing with low self-esteem, keeping her largely confined to her home. She disliked feeling scrutinized, and compliments only amplified her discomfort.
