Chapter 1236
She felt it unlikely they could achieve such a result and saw no need to invest so much money and time. This was the source of the conflict.
Lily was back in her studio. While preparing an essence, she considered the inherent aromas of medicinal herbs. Why force a separation? It wasn't a problem if consumers detected the herbs in her perfumes. Lavender's soothing properties and mint's refreshing scent were well-known; medicinal herbs had their own uses.
However, the institute pursued a different approach. Instead of making products that pleasantly integrated medicinal herbs, they aimed to have people unknowingly inhale the herbs' medicinal properties. This was the oddest part!
Compounding this, the research had stagnated, and she hadn't been to the institute in over half a month. She hadn't heard from them until two days ago, when she received an invitation to this symposium. Initially, she anticipated a valuable exchange, but it proved a tedious banquet and a shocking encounter with a misogynist.
After a moment's consideration, Alexander said, "I'll never stop you from doing what you want, but promise me one thing: prioritize your safety, no matter what. Don't force the issue, okay?"
Smiling and striking a pose, she replied, "You forgot, I'm a kickboxer! Unless they brought guns to a fistfightโฆ Besides, we're at Kingsland!"
"Don't forget you're pregnant!" He gently stroked her stomach, feeling helpless and worried. His wife often forgot she was pregnant, brimming with energy and determined to solve every problem. He knew better than to try and stop her; he could only ensure her safety and let her pursue her interests.
Lily nodded, her gaze falling to their son, Galen, who slept in her arms. "Let's put Galen to bed!" Alexander took him and started up the stairs.
As they reached the bottom, Daisy appeared. "I thought this little boy should be asleep by now, and guess what? He is! Let me take him." She carefully took Galen and carried him upstairs. After watching her go, Alexander turned to Lily and asked, "Is the new nanny alright?"
"She's great. Better than the last one. She's often more careful than I am," Lily replied, checking her phoneโunread since the symposium. Several WhatsApp messages and emails awaited, along with three missed calls from unknown landlines. Assuming they were scams, she ignored them.
She opened a WhatsApp message as Alexander leaned down, resting his chin on her neck. Noticing faint red marks on her collarbones, he smiled. "Are you still tired?"
"Huh?"
