Chapter 1189

Hearing movement, Hannah turned to see Ralph standing behind her. "Did I wake you?" she asked. Noticing his stunned silence, she continued, "Well, right on time. Come and take one last look at her before I send her to her death."

Heather, panting by her bedside, raised her head and flashed a bloody smile, her gaze mocking. This upset Hannah. "Why are you smiling?" she demanded.

"I find your stupidity amusing," Heather laughed. "Do you really think he loves you?"

"Of course!" Hannah retorted confidently, recalling his repeated affirmations of love.

"How ridiculous," Heather sneered, scrutinizing Hannah with disdain. "Which part of you is worthy of love? You're not smart, nor are you good at kickboxing. After a few simple actions, you think you can replace me?"

"Of course I can!" Hannah fumed. "Once you're gone, everything in the Riggs family will be mine. It'll be easy!"

"You're too naive," Heather sneered, gasping for breath. Her failing health was evident. "Do you think I reached this position solely because I'm a Riggs? This is all hard work! Announcing your inability to kickbox is tantamount to declaring the Riggs family unprotected. Our decline stems from weakness. Without your skills, they'll only trample us harder! If killing me solves your problems, do it," she said flatly, leaning against the bed. "But do you really think the Riggs Manor subordinates will obey you?"

Hannah, uncertain, wrestled with this question. She longed to return to the safety of the island, to escape the unfinished tasks before her. But she was powerless; she had to act. Mustering her courage, she said, "Stop trying to scare me! The earth will still turn without you. I'm not like you. Our family has guards. Mom wasn't a kickboxer, and she managed fine. You're just trying to scare me!"

"That was the past," Heather said, closing her eyes. "Is the Riggs family today the same as before?" She seemed too weary to argue further.

Hannah, speechless, finally showed Ralph the bowl in her hand. "Ralph, feed her this medicine."

Ralph was taken aback. Though he was unscrupulous, he'd never killed anyone. He knew the contents of the bowl; feeding it to Heather was tantamount to murder.
